Hydraulic Shifter
non-removable shifter will shift into when stressed or hot. What's the skinny?
I have a 1994 Ford Explorer Sport 4×4. Recently this problem has developed. When the engine is hot and has been under duress, such as driving up a hill, the shift lever does not move up the tranny after making the clutch. It feels like the clutch is not releasing at all. However, after the vehicle has cooled, it will shift. Is this a problem with the hydraulic fluid or the master or slave cylinder or clutch? Or the clutch plates worn? Or could it be something more? Thanks in advance. This is a manual transmission, Rosie. Possibly could be a matter of art oil, no transmission fluid.
Try checking the oil level in first gear there is a plug on the end of the transmission to be taken to check the level of sticking your finger in the hole and you should be able to touch the oil. if not using the correct type oil filler to the bottom of the plug hole to verify that you removed first. this has to be done from under vehicle
