What line Shimano components would be most suitable for heavy-duty, off road touring bike?
Suspension will front, is a mountain bike should be heavy duty. I know Deore LX line is for hiking, but it is heavy enoungh?
Well, now LX is a group of trails that I would not use to travel will have to look into SLX, but your question has me a little confused. How can an off-road travel? Touring involve long journeys and there is only one way in the U.S. that I know of that has any length so you can cover the "tour" and that is the Appalachian Trail … and I'm not sure you can ride in it. If you plan on heavy-duty front suspension and the road will have to take into account their weight and its load, to determine the correct spring rate. Adding too much weight just flatten the docks. There is a reason why road bikes are format on the way are far more efficient and better balanced, and with much better the bike for the job. EDIT: Dan, my mistake in the road on tour, "but with respect the LX, which was relegated to a trekking group from this year and was replaced by SLX. It seems to me I'd probably go off-road travel to a iMotion / SRAM I-9 internal geared hub. 9 speed and bullets.
